Why we decided to Elope (Kind of)

If you are up to date on my socials you will know that I have recently been engaged. I couldn’t even tell you the date I was proposed to but it was the early August. We also knew before I was proposed to that we would be getting married. Why? Because we kind of planned on eloping! Here is why.

So after this year, having 2 children, both have my partners last name, which is not an abnormal thing to have happen. It is pretty common for children to have their fathers last name. I wanted to also have my children to have the same last name as me. I have been with my partner for going on 12 years, we have 2 kids, pets, as well as planning a 3rd. I wanted to be married. I felt like it was something that we should be doing by making it official.

Now you might be wondering why the eloping? and how is it kind of? Well, I say that it is when this blog debuts, we are actually getting married today! We are getting married at a wedding chapel a little bit away here in Nova Scotia. (I will write a better blog post about the details later once we get things back!). The reason why we are doing this was for numerous reasons.

One of those reasons is that it was relatively cheap. My brother and sister had a bigger deal when they got married. The whole deal, people invited, foods, stuff like that. We don’t have anything like that. In fact the time we get married is at 230pm. We have a half an hour in the chapel. We also have a maximum of 10 guests as well. Not sure if it includes ourselves or not but we figured it did. We have a couple who will be our witnesses. They are people who I have known since I was in college. They lived next door to my Ex which obviously they liked me a lot better and have been true friends. They have 2 daughters who will be there. There is also myself, and my partner and our two sons. And finally my best friend who I have known since I was in grade 6 and moved to a new school. That is literally it.

One thing I get asked a lot, why isn’t your family there? It isn’t about them. This is about me. I have always been the stranger one in the family bending rules and what not and well, this is no exception. That being said, truth be told, my parents also eloped. They didn’t tell anyone though. They literally got married and my Dad’s eldest brother and wife were their witnesses. At the end of the day they really can’t say anything about it. Do I think they are upset? Maybe. But I’m not thinking about them I am thinking about myself. We want to do this not because of money, gifts, people, sharing whatever. We want to do this for ourselves.

Another reason also is because weddings are expensive. When you invite tons of people or you have different ideas and what not. I do not want to make this some pricey event. Not to mention, my dog had some surprise vet bills so obviously we are not wanting to spend a fortune to unite us legally. Covid has also put a lot of people back. Some people may not have had work, some may be in the hole, food and oil and gas here is so much more expensive than it was last year. We do not want to have a big deal wedding and people feel like they have to spend any money on us or even getting to the venue, etc.

That is not to say though that in the future we will not be wanting some sort of ceremony though. Maybe in the following years or whatever on a particular anniversary we will have a reception officially or some mock wedding where we can share it with family and friends. Right now though we do not want to put that financial burden on people. We don’t even want it on ourselves as we are focusing on the house and trying to do renovations and what not also.

Our focus is just on making this a special day. We both have our rings, our small group to share the moment with, our son’s who will also be able to share the moment with too. There is even the package that we got that has 10 edited photos on an online album. Yes I will share some of those in a blog post afterwards too.

I guess we just wanted to be different. We wanted this to be something that was done and was more or less for ourselves. So often we try to please everyone, not just us but people in general. We do things that we think others will be want us to do. I am so excited that we will finally be joined but I would be lying to say it isn’t a little nerve wracking though. It really is a pretty simple wedding. I spend 100$ on my dress from Shein, I got the boys both matching outfits to wear also. The most expensive clothing piece was probably my spouses suit that he is renting from a store here. I’m making the bouquet with flowers from outside however I am still wondering what I will do if there is none really in bloom or maybe I will even think about getting some fake ones or something from a local craft store. At the end of the day, This is about our love, our family, and just making it official. If people get mad about it they obviously don’t understand our reasoning!

Life is too short to try to please everyone but yourself! And that is a true fact and something I need to remind myself about!

Soooo Ready for September – Update

To say this summer was a flop is a MAJOR understatement. And by major I mean it was a total flop. It didn’t help that it started with Covid and ended with having to put our family dog down. Needless to say though I am ready for a new season and new adventures.

Our summer started off horrible with covid hitting out home. After dodging it for over 2 years including spending the beginning in Quebec where cases were super rampant, we got it. It literally kicked my butt. My two boys also had it and they were just having a really bad cold. I talk about this more in details in upcoming blogs, Be sure to look for those as it really isnt as big of a walk in a park as everyone makes it sound like. It completely sucked.

Another hard thing that happened this summer was that we had to put our Sheldon down, our family duck tolling retriever. I’m not sure if I was writing about it in previous updates however if you are a follower on any social media you would know that there is a bit of health issues that started the beginning of this year. We had tests done and what not but even medications at one point were not helping. As sucky as it was we made a promise to ourselves that we would never keep any animal alive just to have them alive. He just was not getting better and the medications he was on should have been causing some weight gain when he was steadily losing it. We made the tough decision that obviously something was wrong and to spend thousands to have the same outcome, he was not an young dog by any means either. It was by far one of the hardest things that we have ever had to go through but we feel like it was the right decision considering near the end the vet had said that she thought it was cancer and there basically is no coming back from that at his age and the surgery’s that would be needed and whatever interventions as well too. We will get another dog but it wont be any time soon though that is for sure.

Streaming has been rocky, I had suck high hopes for the summer to be able to stream some more than usual but here we are and I’m giving up on the 5 days a week streaming. We are back to focusing on the 3 days a week and getting back to consistency. When I want to do more I can totally do bonus streams but for the time being right now it is just going to be 3 days. I swear every single time I want to stream more though something ALWAYS pops up and I am unable to do it for some silly reason and this summer was no exception to that also.

I started another weight loss challenge in mid August, well the 8th of it. I feel a lot better about this than previous ones. I really need to control the munching late at night though so starting next week well, when I have the check in I will be keeping better track of calorie counting though because the over eating is not helping anyone. I have also recently have started back at the elliptical which is a huge win for me and I am really happy about that too! I kind of was sitting at the computer one day and was like wow I am going to find the cord to plug it in, and there you have it! It worked great and I was so happy to finally be able to get back to it. Why have one if you don’t use it!

I HAVE 2 BOOKS PUBLISHED! I did not think they would be done as fast as they are but I have two books out. The Darkness which is explained here, and The Light is explained here. Both are poetry collections with 100 poems, and I still have a third that is also coming out in the near future. I am so happy and excited to share them and feedback I have been getting has been tremendous. I am so happy though to be able to have this chapter opening. I have a few blogs talking about my methods and what not on how I could get not one, not two but three books published this year!

And lastly, in a little over a week I will officially be married, after being with the same person for nearly 12 years it was about time after 2 kids, and hopefully a third that we actually settle down and make it paperwork official. I will have a blog coming up about that also too. It is pretty low key and super low maintenance. It is kind of more of an elopement but kind of not? There is literally 9 people including myself and spouse and our two kids. To the point that we have to actually buy a package! It includes 10 digital photos on an online album so like that is pretty cool too! I am pretty excited but also not super excited because we didn’t want it to be a big deal either. Eventually maybe on an anniversary we will do something bigger like a mock wedding and reception but right now our focus is on the kids and home renovations to set us up for the winter and hopefully saving money.

Overall though, The summer was nothing like I expected it to be, but then again what in life is. Nothing. I just am still bummed about our dog being sick. I had this feeling back in April but hearing and having to actually go through it. No one ever talks about having to put down a pet because they literally are members of the family and do everything together. People also forget I find that Sheldon was around long before we had kids and he was a huge part of me feeling safe when I was home alone. I hope the fall has some more pleasant surprises but time will tell wont it!

August 2022 – Nearing Fall Again!!

Hey!

Welcome back to another update. Obviously I am trying out a new intro to the monthly updates and whether or not they make a difference we will see if I continue them each month! I have so much to write I will try to keep it short and sweet though because a few topics will be the blog ideas for the upcoming months!

First, the biggest news of my life. I PUBLISHED A FREAKING BOOK! You can find it on Amazon!!

Literally that is my book right there! How cool is that! This is the first book I was talking about and you will continue to see more of in the blogs this month. I have 2 more poetry collections that I will be releasing this year. Through out the blogs this month though there is a few subjects that are a deeper insight on why I wrote these and what not. I am so excited and proud of these that I am already thinking of future projects. I need to often remind myself that writing is a marathon and not a sprint and chances are I wont be an overnight millionaire. This is something that I am really trying to work hard at so that way I can hopefully make some sort of income while maintaining a house and being a stay at home mom.

If you would like to purchase the book you are more than welcome to do so here, though the link is for the Canadian site you may need to be redirected to the Amazon sited for your Country to be able to purchase a copy for yourself!

Ill keep this part short and sweet. Covid hit our house. Yes, after 2 and a half years of trying not to get it we got it from my parents house and it sucked. I will keep this short only because I would like to write about it more in depth about how it was and symptoms and things. Especially some of the strange things that happened that no one EVER talks about but are totally a normal symptom of having Covid.

We got our heat pumps installed in the house also too! If you are a family or person that is able to afford a heat pump I would totally recommend getting one. We actually got two, one for the upstairs and another for downstairs. Our main concern though was not necessarily to keep the house cool it was more so for the winter to heat our home. We have electric though primarily heat with oil. Prices have drastically gone up and this was an investment that we wanted to spend and hopefully will offset the price of fuel because the heat pumps will be able to really help the house keep warm this winter.

We had a family party! For the first time in a long time we were able to have all of my side of the family over. We haven’t seen many of them for at least 4 years due to the fact we were out of the province however it was really nice to see everyone. A lot of people meeting our sons for the first time too. It was super hectic in the sense that his was quite literally the most people that our boys have seen since well, they were born and it was a lot of people around they were pretty wide awake the entire time taking it in. That being said though it was so worth it and I am so looking forward to the Christmas party that I am bringing back every year on the first Sunday in December too.

Right now, writing wise I am just trying to edit and put my books out there so I can work on promoting. This is literally my focus as well as the blog. I may have mentioned that I always schedule blogs, well I am trying to do that for the rest of the year and I am also trying to schedule some into the new year. This way I can focus next year on marketing the 3 poetry collections as well as writing some new ones to come out for the year 2024. Now that I half know what I am doing I feel like I am unstoppable!

Photo by Daria Shevtsova on Pexels.com

I also am starting a new 16 week weight loss challenge on the 8th of August. I am really looking forward to this because I will be drastically cutting back on weed for one. I also will be bringing back blogs weekly also too. I will be trying to also work out and keep really good track. The reality is that by the end of this challenge we will be trying to have our 3rd and final child and I really want to push myself to be in a great shape even better than the last 2 pregnancy’s. Being pregnant and chasing around my oldest was tough at times, now I will be chasing around my two kids and feel like I want to set myself up for feeling great and looking great! I also may try to start intermittent fasting for the first little bit with a window of 10am-6pm. I feel like that is totally doable and that I can make it happen if I try to!

Overall I feel like July has been busy but also Covid really kicked my butt. It was challenging for me to really get back the energy. I will say though it is certainly not a “bad cold” maybe for some people but it certainly is not that for what I assume is the majority. If it was just a “bad cold” then maybe they wouldn’t have been so fast to try to make a vaccine and what not.

I cannot wait to share with you the next steps in my journey!!

Maple Syrup and Canadians

It may come as no surprise but one of the big things that Canadians are known for is in fact Maple Syrup. For some strange reason that is. Maybe it has to do with the fact that there are a lot of trees around here or even the fact that we have a big honking maple leaf on our flag. The reason for this could be something we may never find the answer to. Not that knowing an answer would really make a difference here anyway. Let’s talk about Canada and Maple Syrup! According to a 100% Canadian eh!

Most may understand the concept of how maple syrup is in fact made. Some may also have no idea. I will be only briefly talking about the process since I am not a professional in this department. Basically in the spring as sap warms up and starts to flow, maple syrup harvesters will collect the sap into buckets or through tubing. This is collected in a cabin where it is removed of debris (sticks or bark) and then boiled to remove the water. Leaving maple syrup! You need a whole lot of sap also to make a very small amount of maple syrup which may be one of the reasons why it is so expensive. But more on that later! If you have a child or you yourself have grown up in the Canadian school system in most if not all the provinces, there is a good chance that you have heard this story at least once but more often than not, more times during school as one of the lessons.

You will NEVER be pressured to contribute to towards put any type of money towards the blog however if the thought has crossed your mind, here is a great way to help a stay at home mom provide some financial relief for her family.

One stereotype I can think of is people assuming everyone likes maple syrup. Though a large amount of people do enjoy it I personally enjoy regular store bought table syrup. Nothing really fancy about it. Or maybe a lot of people know how to make syrup. Though that my be true, it certainly is not the case. Maple syrup is mainly made in certain provinces like Quebec. However in order to make it you need to have a maple tree, that is where the sap comes from! It may take a very long time though if you are only using one tree. And one important thing also, if you do decide to tap your own sap, make sure to plug the hole again with a piece of wood so the tree doesn’t keep running!

Photo by ROMAN ODINTSOV on Pexels.com

If you are a fan of maple syrup it comes to no surprise how expensive it really is. Especially if you are buying Canadian maple syrup from a different country. Even here as a Canadian it is quite pricey. Whether or not you get it in  a fancy maple leaf glass bottle or you get it on a tin can. There is no denying the cost. Why is it so expensive? I honestly have no idea. Everything now a days is rising in costs however syrup has been quite expensive for some time. I assume it may be due to the way it is made and how you need a whole boat load of sap in order to make a tiny bottle of syrup. It also could be because or how long in general it takes to make. Sap does not flow quickly like water does that is for sure. None the less, most of the households I knew growing up would buy it for special occasions only. Though I am sure that there are some families who will only buy maple syrup for their homes.

A treat that originated in Quebec is maple taffy. This is when you take the syrup and boil it a little bit more so it becomes thicker. You then pour this liquid over the snow and when it starts to get cold you roll it onto a stick and eat it. Pretty simple and if you go to any sugar cabin where they make maple syrup you bet this is a tasty treat that is probably made there! Of course though you can make it at home after a fresh snow fall or as the snow melts in the spring! This is something that I know for sure I will be doing with my children during the colder months once they are a little bit older though!

Another reason why Maple Syrup is even now becoming more loved is the fact that is such a versatile type of condiment. From the thousands of desserts that you can make with it to the benefits in tea’s. This sweet golden liquid can even be added with soy sauce to make a great glaze for fish also. The syrup has the ability to sweeten a wide range of dishes and treats. Even if it does have a hefty price tag 99.9% of the time. Don’t forget the pancake and crepe uses that you would make on Sunday morning’s during the long weekends.

Overall, I cant say for sure how many Canadians may regularly buy maple syrup. I know my family and even extended maybe buy it once a year if that at all. For the amount of times per month that a family tends to eat pancakes or crepes or whatever in order to use maple syrup is more than likely extremely low. Does it taste great? Yes. But is it worth the price tag? Debatable. The bottle line I guess I am trying to say is this is totally as serious of a topic as the rest of the planet thinks that it is for Canadians.

When Does Something Good Happen?- Self Care Thursday 8 – February 24th

I sucked this week. And guess what. We had a minor water in our basement. I know I know. Actually freaking crazy like what even is February right? Just filled with trouble after trouble. I swear I will get this right.

As for calories they have been all over the map. I have been unfocused and lazy. I had such high hopes for February and I keep sabotaging myself in the process. Since the month is also over I will be setting a new goal for March and that will be to be under 230lbs.

Photo by Ketut Subiyanto on Pexels.com

To hold myself accountable I will be opening up my book of calories. I will be writing that all down because I think it is important for me to be as transparent as possible. Be prepared though what you will see is NOT what is a balanced diet. As I have mentioned before I struggle with healthy eating but I can do excellent when it comes to counting calories. If it comes to just doing that and also doing my walking workouts then that is also important and maybe will shed some light into how I struggle.

I need to stop smoking weed in the day time unless it is a weekend. I am sabotaging myself mid afternoon by having a puff. After supper is more than enough and in the day time I always go out with the best intentions and I dont actually follow through with any of it. Even missing my Monday and Friday evenings due to streaming is alright too which I really need to hammer by.

I know that I literally talk about this every single week but I really need to convince myself that I am going to do it. I will say one thing though when I jumped on the scale this week I was still happy with the results. I never really gained a lot and I feel like I could let march take control and be below my pre-pre baby weight for both pregnancys!

Weigh in: 241.6lbs
Start in Jan 2022: 248.8lbs

Pasta…ice cream.. Small bowl chips.. Ice coffee.. Water..
Smoked yes. Accomplished a lot. Finished a few blogs that were half completed. As of today I have about 19 completed. I also have not scheduled the blogs for March which I will need to do in the near future. I would love to have between 35 and 50 blogs written so I can just schedule and schedule. It would leave me with more time on the fly to write about issues that pop up and I can write about on the fly. As for writing, I am up to about 60 poems written. Which is huge. My goal is about 100 at least for each poetry book as part of the collection. So I am nearly done one book which is amazing to me! I feel like my munching is okay but I want to keep doing what I did when the power was out and that is not smoking every day. Taking breaks and days off. It will for sure help my tolerance that’s for sure.

Fri, Feb 11th
Today was pretty relaxed. I did over indulge food wise a little bit but I will not be letting it drag into Saturday. I also am not going to dwell on it either. It was a pretty decent day. Streamed for a bit which was the 1st time in a very long time due to having no heat or power and then frozen pipes after that. I am really going to try to not munch the next few days with maybe not smoking on Sunday and Monday because my spouse has to work Monday and Sunday can be a reset day also too. I have been doing so well with house work and dishes to keep up on it has been nice. I need to keep that momentum up because my goal is to completely finish Felix’s bedroom. He will for sure need to be moved into his crib soon as I fear he is getting too big for his bassinet and he may be waking himself up as he hits the sides with his arms.

Sat, Feb 12th
Today was decent. I felt okay anyways. I ran a few errands I think for the 1st time in a while I even drove my car too. As far as our weekly date night we were so tired that we fell asleep on the couch. What are the chances.  What is even more nutty is that we didn’t even watch anything on TV LOL. We were that tired. No joke.

Sun, Feb 13th.
Again ran an errand or two. I wanted to get the last things to add to a parcel foe a friend of mine in England. I wanted everything ready so I can mail it to her soon. Since there is chocolate I don’t want to wait for the summer that would be silly. I also think I am going to take some time off of smoking through the week. I completed 68 poems and my goal for Feb is to have at least 100. However I am debating on pushing myself to get between 125 and 150 poems done. I really want to start editing and typing them up. I had got on kindle app on my tablet also a few how to market books, books. I want to be brain storming a plan to be able to have success.

So today was alright. I did munch a bit but only smoked a roach though. By the time everyone was settled and in bed it was nearly 9pm or 930pm and obviously my partner and I went to bed. I swear we have been playing catch up ever since we had no power!

Tues,Feb 15th

Today I did some munching in the day time but at night we were okay. Especially because Felix seems to have a 9pm bedtime and that is when we finally smoked. My partner also having a few puffs too. We will soon be putting Felix in his own crib in the next few days once we have the baseboards done. We do not want to wait much longer as he already is too big for his bassinette. This may also help him sleep better.

The month is winding down. I an going to be doing a mini meal plan til the end of the month so I better keep track of what I am eating or snacks I am looking forward to also.I really need to motivate myself to use my whole agenda or else half of the pages are legit being wasted right now! I need to organize it tonight when I do a little bonus stream and get things going in terms of keeping better track of what I eat. I put out a question to a mom group that I was in if others are looking for motivation and started a group chat with about 20 of us. I feel like this is what I needed people to help lift others up and what not. That is my goal anyways, while also keeping myself motivated which I need for sure. I also did a 45 minute workout DvD too. I tried to start when my oldest was by me and my youngest as asleep but that turned into a “Chase Mommy around” so I waited till nap time and did it then!

Exercise is something that I really need to start doing. I have absolutely no excuse to not do it. Even if my oldest is in bed and my youngest is awake he is fully capable to sit in his chair if I workout. I need to stop making every excuse under the sun why I don’t workout. A YouTube video can be even 30 minutes to an hour if I want and that is still a great way for me to be active and burn calories and feeling great about myself in the process.

Overall the past week has been decent. I mainly feel like my partner and I were in bed super early like the two of us were catching up on sleep from the ice storm we had too. I think I will be able to do my mini week goals also which was to have march schedule blog wise (Except for these obviously since I write them every week!) and then to have some also written as well. My poetry writing is also going great, I am at about 76 and would like to have 85 written before Sunday (though I plan on writing more than that!). I feel like I could be really close to my 235lb weight goal before the end of the month, even if there is just under 2 weeks left and a lot of weight to lose to get to it! I am hopeful!

Formula Feeding for New Moms

Having a child, for the first time can be something that you are questioning everything about. There are so many different topics that you need to discuss along the way that it can be over whelming to say the last. One of the hardest things you need to decide on is how are you going to feed your new baby. After all, they only do about 3 things for the first few weeks. That being Eat, Sleep, and Poop.

Photo by MART PRODUCTION on Pexels.com

Deciding how you are going to feed your baby is challenging even if you have thought about this many times before. I know for me I was kind of dead set on trying to breast feed my son however in the beginning that was quickly done when I found it far too stressful. I was panicked and worried if my son was actually drinking enough, if I was doing it right. I never really researched it and what I did it seemed to make it look super easy. It is not. It is not as easy as some moms and movies make it look. Breastfeeding is work and it is hard. Not to mention not every baby can pick it up that quickly.

I have also written a blog here about how to normalize formula feeding if you are interested in reading it here. Today is seems so taboo to formula feed because now women who breast feed sometimes snub people who do not. For me, it made me feel ashamed when I choose to switch to formula even after my son was a few days old. We started breast feeding in the hospital. The nurses even give a bit of pressure for you to breast feed because of whatever reason too. Myself and a friend of mine who had given birth a few months before had also thought the same thing when she was there with her son. We were in there for 2 nights and then we went home for one night, and had to come back so my son could be under the lights to tan due to jaundice. Being there the whole time alone because my partner had to go home in the evenings to be with our pets so they wouldn’t go completely insane was hard. When you have a new baby you are legit feeding them every 3 or so hours. Their tiny bellies are so small that they honesty cannot take a whole lot of milk at once. After running on such little sleep because remember, when you breast feed, you are the only one who can do it. Unless you pump and save milk which in the hospital we never really did either. You are doing it solo. When we arrived home I still was stressed out he was not eating that I just said I was done. I wanted us to formula feed which I think my spouse also felt good about because he was also able to help. He could warm bottles, give him one and or I could also. We were no longer tied to just me feeding him. It relieved a lot of stress.

Processing…
Success! You're on the list.

Now as I write this, pregnant with our second son (Which I gave birth to in November, I just schedule blogs ahead for planning!). We have decided to just go right to formula. We think this is again the great choice due to the fact that my partner will not be taking parental until the spring time and he will be able to either take a late night feeding or an early morning feeding before he goes to work so I can get a little bit more sleep. Instead of just me getting up every 3 hours feeding our newest little fella he can take turns with me as well. I feel like there is a relief for me knowing when this baby is born that I will be not fussing and fighting with myself and we will just be going right to formula feeding. There is absolutely nothing wrong with starting with formula feeding even though the media or friends may make you feel that way now.

So where to begin? That is the question. Here are a few things you need to purchase to start:
– Bottles
– Bottle Warmer
– Formula (Powder, Liquid, Concentrate)
– Sanitizer (Personal Preference)

When we had our son we had friends who had given us a bunch of bottles. We used the obviously very small ones to start which were about 4 ounces sometimes 5 and we worked with those. Once our son grew we had to buy larger ones where they were a max of 9 ounces since he was no longer drinking so frequently but drinking more each time. Bottles are all a personal preference on what type you want. However remember, at some point they will also need different nipples based on the flow. I did not know you needed to change nipples for a while so we were a little behind on that!

A bottle warmer comes in handy because they say that in the microwave it does not evenly heat up the bottles where you can have really hot spots as apposed to the entire thing being warm. Find a warmer that you like though in the beginning you could just use a cup of hot water and then putting the bottle in that as it warms up as well too. His is because you again are only making a few ounces at a time and it will take no time at all to warm up. We only used a cheap 20$ one before and got the same brand but a slightly better model this time. It can take a bit to get the hang of it and how much water you put in for steam and what not but it really is convenient.

Next is formula. Going to the hospital we made sure to have the premade formula where you just buy the nipples and can give them to the baby. This is debatable since a few people online said the hospital provided formula while others said they did not. We got it just in case. Since it is not the brand we will be using we still got it none the less so that way we didn’t look bad when we got there if we had none. There is also some debate that people are not supposed to use powder with newborns for a few months. We used powder formula right off the bat and it was completely fine with our first son. No issues. Once we arrive back home we will also be doing the same things as well too. Also remember, Name brand is not always better. We started with Similac for our son which made him constipated. We switched to the Walmart brand on recommendations from friends and he did just fine on that not to mention it was 10-15$ cheaper as well too. As far as where we live in Canada, standards for formula are pretty standard so we were not really worried about which is better over another one.

Lastly a sanitizer, I know people who did not use this at all. Some people say that they only sanitize the bottles the first few times than they just use soap and water with it. Others have said that they do it every time. We do it every night to the bottles after they are washed however after your young one can start to bring things to their mouth or put their hands around we kind of stopped due to the fact it didn’t really make sense anymore if they were already putting things in their mouth. It really takes no time at all and we used a tray you put with water in the microwave that you can sanitize them relatively quickly.

Which ever formula you choose remember that you are not alone in this. Again, I talk about my struggles and how I think formula feeding should be normalized again here. And whichever brand you choose, follow the instructions! They say not to use boiling water however we always boiled the water and let it cool before mixing formula. It really helps even though the can said you could just mix it with water. Most cans also come with a specific scoop to use when mixing per so many ounces. If you don`t follow this it could result in constipation or your baby not getting the full nutrients.

Did you jump right into Formula feeding with your child?
Did you feel the stigma when you announced you were skipping breast feeding and going right to formula?

Let me know in the comments below, I’m sure there are a lot of people who feel the same way also too!

I self sabotaged myself to fail – Self Care Thursday 2 – January 13th/2022

(This post contains some affiliate links, This is to help a kick back to the blog financially by simply shopping as you normally do. If you choose to support the blog by this way, thank you, your support is greatly appreciated!)

As I write this I am going to begin with this.
I set myself to fail the 1st week of my diet every, single, year!

Photo by Mikhail Nilov on Pexels.com

And here is why.

My birthday is January 8th. As you can tell if you are familiar with the blog due to the fact I posted this past weekend my 32nd birthday reflection. Every single year I always say I will go hard and really be mindful of what I eat even though I know as a fact that eventually I will be eating junk food and candy or sweets a day or two (or three) around my birthday. And, as much as I do not want it to effect me it completely is. Even though it happens every single year.

Realistically I should be starting weight loss plans for after the 8th due to the fact I know I will have Cake and treats and basically lose nothing or gain a few lbs in the process. So now that it is behind me let’s get this going.

One shake that I found to actually fill me up is slim fast shakes, they are a great meal replacement with a sweet kick added too. When I am needed an added bonus for energy I tend to reach for these Nuun energy tablets.

Exercise is slowly going. I decided to pause the daily elliptical workout and start with some workout dvd’s. I think this is a better way to start with some exercise instead of going downstairs to workout. Plus, dvd’s are easier to put in upstairs while my oldest has his nap time/quiet time. They are only 30 minutes or so which is slightly less than the typical 40 minutes however Id like to start with the elliptical randomly though. And since this week is the week my boyfriend in fact goes back to work I thought this would be a good way to start somewhere. My goal is to do the workout between 4-5 days per week. Right now I am doing my Zumba dvd but I do have a few others that I can switch to when I get tired of it. I had worked out with it on Monday and Yesterday (Wednesday).

Weed. I know and you know that a major component of my own self sabotage is I can do really well all day on not over eating only to over eat at night. Case in point is the last 2 night’s I majorly over ate after 7pm because I got high. So I am making myself a promise. No more weed until I am under 235lbs. However long it takes. After that I will not be smoking til I lose another 10lbs so 225lbs. Hopefully by that time I will be able to control my snacking better and can introduce more puffing when that happens. I am my own worst enemy. We shall see if I break it tonight on the first night I planned this..

Overall mentally I am okay. My only problem is I obviously am being a bit harsh on myself because of my over eating. I am my own worst enemy when it comes to losing weight. But It is some thing I need to work through. My relationship with food is completely unhealthy not even talking about my extremely picky food habits either. I tell myself that the day is done which is true but I know myself as I write this after a night of binge eating which I blame on weed (I am sure many other factors are also there) and I will be thinking about it all day.

One of my favorite items to use to workout and get the heart pumping is a skipping rope. Pair this with hand weights for a mini workout when you are a bit crunched for time!

As far as keeping track in my agenda that has mot been going well. I need to also tell myself at the end of every day I need to write down what I am eating. Even if it is not exact in calories I need to write what I am eating even if only by names.  I think that would be a great idea.

And here to finish is my weight this AM: 247.0 (Down 1.4lbs or so)

I Started My Own Business!

I feel like this has been a long time coming. But I have been doing a lot of thinking and I cannot wait to finally be able to announce to you all. Starting in January 2022, I will be officially launching my crafting and creators business! You probably have seen me mention in different blogs previously about being some-what creative and really looking at ways to grow my content too.

Stacey’s Signature Stash can be found in all of these places:

And right here: https://stayseej.ca/art-for-sale/
(YES! We will FINALLY have art on the “Art for Sale” tab here!)

One of the biggest factors for me to finally do something like this is that I want to have a financial income again. Even if I make a little bit every single month it would be a great way for me to help out my growing family. One of the hardest things even before having kids was moving away from home to Quebec. By moving there for a period of time with my spouse and not knowing French I never got a job there. It is one of the adjustments that I found the hardest because I was basically financially independent before hand. If I can bring in some sort of income whether it be a hundred dollars per month or even a few hundred. I would feel forever grateful to begin this challenge!

So what is it it that I will be selling? For now I am going to be selling a handful of different things as I grow my products and customers. One of the hardest things for me to so is actually grow socials and I hope that I can do so with giveaways along the way. Here is a brief description of what we will be selling to start.

Magnets: These all have been made out of the materials plastic canvas as well as yarn. I sew them by hand and add a magnet to the back. They are able to be customizable and also bought individually or in a bundle. Prices per piece will range from $2.00 CAD to $4.00 CAD depending on the size of the magnet. There will be exceptions for magnets that will be a higher price as they can be fully customizable. Shipping will be extra.

To also tie onto this I do have a few little ideas for plastic canvas also that include keychains, and tooth fairy boxes. These are things that will not take up a lot of space but I think will look great none the less. There will also be customizable magnets in shapes of pencils or crayons that can be done in different colors with a child’s name. These will be specific and more expensive because they will have been customizable and have 5 magnets on the back to display school work or art projects on the fridge! Honestly the possibilities are endless and I really want to see where this takes me!

Next is artwork. I will give a sneak hint that there will be some stoner artwork to start. I feel like I have had this cartoon look idea since high school when I would doodle and I would really like to keep it going. I have had this vision and feel like running with it. I will start by doing miniatures on canvas that are 3 inches by 3 inches and working to bigger canvas as requested. There will also be trippy work and different styles of canvas available. Customs will be available to the best of my abilities too.

Updates for the time being will probably be as I finish items. Customs will always be open if people want specific colors or styles as well too. However I don’t want to set a specific date to update things if by chance I cannot abide to that. Ive been prepping some things to have for a launch. But in terms of updating specific days per week or month, I think as things are done that would be the better version for myself.

Eventually I would love to dabble into some polymer clay. This would be a completely new adventure craft wise for me but I think if I watch some videos or guides I could get the hang of it. I think this could be fun to make earrings or charms or something for a necklace also too. I do have a bit of clay I had bought that I have yet to use but I would love to think of some unique ideas and then see how I can do with them. I don’t want to take someone’s idea and remake them I would rather think of a mini niche and do that myself!

Overall I think this could be a great thing for me in many ways, including something for me to do to prevent munching out at night. That is a major issue for me and where I am working towards losing weight I need to be occupied somehow. As much as I love writing these and working on my stories I would much much rather have a time away from the screen that is for sure!

And lastly, if you are interested in purchasing any of these new items feel free to reach out. I would say the best places would be on the Twitter account or Facebook account messages. That would be the easiest and chances are quickest way to reach me!

Peanut Butter Fudge Recipe

*** For a details story about why I started making these, got the recipe etc, see underneath the actual recipe itself (Please consider reading for some history on it!). My reason for this is because there is nothing I can’t stand more than looking up a recipe online only to have to scroll scroll scroll to the bottom to find it with a bunch of fluff on the top! Thank you!

Peanut Butter Fudge Recipe

– Half a cup of Butter or Margarine
– 2 Cups Peanut Butter (I normally use smooth, however I am sure if you would like an added crunch you could use a crunchy kind. I also use Kraft brand however I am sure it could also be possible to use an all natural however you may need to adjust the Icing Sugar amounts due to the natural peanut butter being “Wetter”.
– 3-5 Cups of Icing Sugar

1. Heat margarine and Butter in a pot on the stove. Stir til completely melted and combines together.
(This can also be done in the microwave however you may need to do intervals of 30 so that it does not burn or the butter does not spatter since it will melt quicker than the peanut butter)
2. Remove from heat
3. Start adding your cups of icing sugar, starting with 2 cups to start, mixing, and then adding a half of a cup at a time. This is to prevent over adding icing sugar. Depending on how liquor your peanut butter is you may need a lot or a little.
**You can tell when the proper amount of icing sugar is there because if you were to use a spatula or fork you can push the mixture down. It should resemble play dough and not stick to a spatula or fork. It also should be smooth enough that you do not see any clumps of icing sugar everything should be mixed together. The mixture will also slowly form a ball and separate from the sides of the bowl you are using.
4. Take a 9 inch by 9 inch tray (Or whatever shape or size you may want) and line it with some type of wax paper, parchment paper, or tin foil to prevent sticking to the sides. Add the mixture.
5. Set in the fridge to cool before cutting in to desired squares.

If you are familiar with my recipe dump of last year (If not you are able to read all the ones I released in the post here) you will find that this recipe seems to be very similar to the base of my peanut butter balls. It is so simple to make and literally takes MAYBE a half an hour of your time because you have to melt everything together. The amount of compliments that I have gotten on this due to the fact they taste so much like peanuts is insane. If you are a family like my own without a peanut allergy and stuck on what to make for a family gathering, I would suggest this because of the little time you need to put into it as well as the least amount of ingredients too! Making it one of the most simple and popular recipes I make for friends and family!
