June Update 2021

Where do I begin with this update! I feel like I have so much to share! So I guess we can start in the beginning.

If you have been following you know that we are about 15 weeks pregnant with our second child right now. It is incredible that we are bringing another tiny human into the world and keeping our family growing. Our goal was to always have 3 kids and since we waited a bit longer to have children then we would try to have them close together so far so good in that department. Hopefully before our big move we can find out the gender of the baby as well since we wont be able to get some appointments for a bit of time.

We have in fact also found a home! I will be mentioning a bit more about that in the near future for a blog post however it will be ours! It is a nice approximately 1500 square foot home. Outside is about 25,000 square foot land. It is close enough to neighbors that you can see them in case you need to and it is on a nice small quiet street too. It is only about 8-10 minutes from my parents house which will be helpful as well if we need help though I think our home will be keeping us busy for a very long time as we try to get things organized and to our liking.

Covid is still around which sucks however finally here in Quebec due to vaccinations being administered there are restrictions finally, and I mean FINALLY easing up. There has been a no private gathering rule in place since October 31st or so of 2020. There is also a curfew at 8pm originally and now at 930pm and that will finally be over as of the 28th of May. By the time this is released I will have spend a few hours on the weekend with my Uncle’s at their home. We are excited to finally have some contact since you are able to have outdoor gatherings at a maximum of 8 people. We will hopefully be able to spend some time the next few weekends with them as the weather gets warmer and then when we transition to our new home we will also be spending time with them in order to avoid a hotel. That would be because with a cat and a dog we would like to avoid a hotel as much as possible for the sake of our own sanity! The only downside of this is that currently in Nova Scotia they are in the biggest covid wave since the beginning. Thankfully as I write this they finally are having some lower numbers but for a while they were having bigger numbers a few hundred per day for a while. We are hopeful that by the time we get back they will still have gatherings allowed as right now they are not allowed. Other than that we will just have to wait and see. The crummy part of this move is that we really can’t plan anything until a few weeks before in terms of staying. We might have to drop the dog off at my parents house and then we will have to stay in a hotel for a night or two til our things arrive and then maybe change our address to our home and stay there instead. Hopefully mid June we have some answers for ourselves but only time will tell as things change. We will have to however do 2 weeks isolation as that has been a rule in place for a very long time with Nova Scotia.

And as for me, I really have to be strong and hold fast on my rules that I am making for June. I want to have a lot of structure in terms of planning in order to get things prepped for the move. I want to really tackle writing blogs and being able to catch up on everything. My goal is to HOPEFULLY be able to schedule as much as possible til about September. Whether that be tweets on Twitter, Blogs and prepping those to be scheduled as well to. I want to really do as little as possible while seeming to be active. When I had my son I really did not do a whole lot in terms of keeping active which is fine, but overall it hurt my growth everywhere and I would like to try to make it as fine as possible with little to no worries. That way when I do end up coming back I don’t have a lot of stress over the summer while we get settled back into our new forever home and new normal. And also after we do our isolation I will probably need to have some appointments especially me for check-ups with the baby as well too which I would like to just get everything happening and phone calls ready though. I already started prepping some of the things we will be taking in the car as well as some of the lists we will need to take care of once we are there.

Other than that, I think excitement will be the driving force here. I find myself not wanting to take naps as much and just wanting to get things done. I also hope I can do some extra blogs in the process as well too and mention my blog more on social medias which I think will help gain some traction as well too. The fact we will finally have our own space to share with our family and a fresh back yard with privacy again is amazing. We never really had privacy before since we were always close to our neighbors, this will be a refreshing start and I cannot wait to share it with you all! The only thing stopping us, which I would never want to wish away, is time!

What are some moving tips you have from moving across provinces or states?
Is there anything you over thought and it wasn’t as big of a deal as you assumed it would be?

We’re having ANOTHER BABY!!

By the time you are reading this it will be about 12 weeks into pregnancy.  I will slowly release some updates until I catch up by going month by month ( or about every 4 weeks) and comparing them to my previous pregnancy noticing any changes and things along the way!

First things first! Yes, This was a planned pregnancy just like our first. We are beyond thrilled when we found out. To say we were shocked is also an understatement due to the fact that we had only tried for literally one month and it had caught. We half tried the “shettles” method in attempt to have a girl. This is when you stop doing the dirty a few days before ovulation since apparently the girl sperms survive longer then male sperm. Does this work? Who knows because I never tracked ovulation with strips so I only followed my app which seemed to be right when it comes to when my period would start and stop.

Another thing is that I broke the cardinal rule when it comes to conceiving. I tested early. I use the app Ovia which I have used for years. A little less when I was pregnant and used their pregnancy version however with trying to conceive and the last few months I had also tried to track my cycles just to be sure.

What happened was on March 13th (Saturday) I tested form the dollar store pregnancy test. I knew it obviously would be negative but I couldn’t help myself especially since I was starting to feel off. My shoulder really started to hurt randomly. My boobs felt weird in the shirt I was wearing. I felt different. These were things that I felt when I was pregnant with my son however I didn’t think too much about it and just thought that I was gaining weight. Since we were trying and this was the 1st month I though right away this could be it. I also still broke my rule, and tested again the Monday March 15th. I used 2 tests that I had just  a drug store brand. There was still a very very faint line. on both of them. I then took another dollar store one but that was negative and a second one which was neg. I know. Stupid me. So I waited til the 26th on Tuesday March 16th and also took another dollarstore test. That did come back with a very very very faint pink line. So this much be starting to have the hormone grow then. And as I write this (I told you way before hand!) on March 17th, Wednesday, I took a test that was a name brand and 6 days sooner and yes, it did show pregnant.

It’s super crazy to think that my son JUST turned one and here we are having another baby. Though we are not getting any younger. And we always said that we wanted to have all of our children close in age and what not. This is for sure getting us on that track! If everything is correct my due date will be around the end of November of this year. So that is kind of neat to be having a baby 2 years in a row. Not to mention I will NOT be having the baby in Quebec so I will be in Nova Scotia where the nurses and things actually speak English which is great.

I wouldn’t say a lot of things are worrying me right now. The thing that makes me worried is the c-section thing again. However knowing that I gave birth to my son naturally and without medication. I hope to give birth without medication to the next one however we will see what happens when the time comes though! I also am nervous about morning sickness. I was really lucky with my son to not have a lot of morning sickness and whatever I did have was basically my own fault from making food with too much milk (It was mac and cheese..) I just hope I don’t have much or it is very low due to the fact that I can no longer just go to sleep I have a kid that I have to look after and with morning sickness that would be a bummer!

I have to fill out a form though and get put on a list for the clinic that I was able to go to through pregnancy. However it will be a lot easier I think knowing I wont be in the province for the birth because well, why would I want that! I will need to do a few appointments as well as some blood work probably since there is some early on that you need to do. I also will hopefully get the gender ultrasound here in Quebec. That is one thing I would like to do here. Just because with moving things could be tricky to time everything just right for it.

I cannot wait to update you along on this journey. It’s something I never thought about doing since I only started the blog the year that my son was born in 2020. At that point I was nearing the end of pregnancy and couldn’t really track it with people. Here we are second pregnancy though and I cannot wait to compare how different or maybe not so different these pregnancy will be! Will we have a girl or a boy, and will the symptoms be different if the gender is different too? Will I have a bunch of new symptoms and have another boy? Will they be the same symptoms and a girl? Who knows. They really do say that every pregnancy is different and I cant wait to see what happens with this one!

WE ARE REALLY HAVING ANOTHER BABY! I am going to be a Mom of 2 under 2!

Do you have children?
Did you feel just as excited with the first as you did with the second?

Weed vs Wine

Since I could remember there was always a stigma about smoking weed. When you watch movies of you watch women who are mom’s you see once the kids go to bed they pour themselves a nice glass of red wine and sip on that while binging the latest soaps or crime shows that they may not have finished chasing the children around. Another crazy part in this is even when they have a ladies night you also notice that they are typically again, drinking wine! You never see on the big screen a woman and mother who lights up a nicely rolled joint as their way to unwind at the end of a day! Why is that?

I think it is safe to say that alcohol is basically legal across the world in MOST countries. Obviously, of course, you have to be above the legal drinking age in the respected country however it is pretty widely known that it is something that nearly any adult can do. Whether you are in Sweden, Canada, USA, or whatever else as long as you are above that age you are able to drink. Whether you prefer beer, or spirits, or harder booze or wine, this is not classified as a “Drug” so to speak. You are able to get it even in corner stores in some countries.

Does being able to get it so easily make it something that is more popular among women? Or at least accepted in the general public’s eyes? Could be. When you watch these movies you almost sensationalize the fact that this mother is enjoying a nice cool glass of wine at the end of what might have been a tough day!

The fact is, They never talk about the trouble that alcoholism might have on a family. Maybe that one glass becomes 2, or 3, or even more. Maybe something that once started as a beer has now moved to wine or even to a harder liquor in the process. Maybe the money used for booze is money that should be spent on bills. It really is up for interpretation as well. So why is it more accepted than weed?

When people see weed or hear about weed their minds normally goes to weed = drugs which equals bad. But why is that? Weed is something that people can either smoke, drink, eat, or use in a vaporizer that gives you a feeling of “high” if you prefer the THC strains. Or if you prefer the CBD strains it can have some great medical effects as well too. From helping someone to sleep better at night, or help with appetites or anxiety as well too. Why is it viewed as such a terrible thing to do at the end of the day compared to wine which is widely acceptable?

This being said, If you don’t already know. I am Canadian, and if weed is still unfortunately illegal in the country that you live I would suggest NOT smoking it unless you have some sort of medical card or are able to purchase legally. In Canada as long as you are above the legal age in your province of residence you are able to smoke or partake in whatever way you would like for it. Some provinces you can even grow a certain amount of weed also too. For me, living in a country that the weed is technically viewed the same as liquor, I think it can be seen more accepted then in a country where it is criminalized.

If you have read this far, I am sure you are looking for my opinion on this. And I will explain that now.

Drinking a glass at the end of the day, whether one or two. You are nearly unable to do anything depending. When I have a drink or two I prefer not to drive at all even though technically one would be allowed to drive (Provided you are not over the legal limit). I may be feeling a bit woozy depending on the amount of drinks I have had. I don’t like the taste of certain drinks and I also don’t like the fact that for me to let loose (A little!) I need to drink multiple.

Smoking a joint at the end of the day. I know that if I smoke a joint I will for sure be getting a bit of a high. I will also be able to drive in maybe 3-5 hours. Obviously if I smoked more or less I would judge that on when I actually come down from a high. I don’t feel restricted to do anything because I feel like I am able to be in more control.

Does that mean I feel “safer” while smoking weed? No. I treat weed and booze the exact same. You don’t drink and drive on it. You practice safe things while you partake in either and one is not more or better than another. It simply is a preference that I prefer. Just like you don’t drink during pregnancy I also never smoked during it either. When I found out that I was pregnant with my son I stopped immediately. I did not want to risk anything when it came to his life.

So why is wine viewed better then weed for a woman at the end of the day? Maybe this is because people who prefer wine are in a country that weed is still criminalized and not seen as equal to booze. For me though, I would take a joint over a drink any time of the day. Does that mean I don’t have anything to drink? Not normally. If my children were older and had a babysitter or something and my partner and I were to go out and have a few drinks I would also enjoy that too. I just prefer to have grass over the liquor.

Whether you prefer a glass of red, or a smoke of the green, As long as you use responsibly I don’t think anyone should be judging how you unwind at the end of the day.

Do you think that wine vs weed is a valid debate?
Does it matter if you are a female or male at the end of the day partaking in either?
